A crew were recently requested to perform a Lloyd's 10yr special survey on a 150,000t crude oil tanker in the Gulf of Mexico.
UTS were able to dispatch a crew at short notice, flying them from the UK into Houston, Texas and then via Helicopter from Galveston to meet the vessel out in the Gulf.
The survey was then carried out with support from the Surveyor, Superintendent and ships crew as the vessel sailed from anchorage into Galveston Docks.
Case : 50,000t Products Tanker
UTS were invited to complete a Det Norske Veritas 15yr special survey to a 50,000t products tanker on its passage to dry dock, to enable the Hull Superintendent to budget any steel renewal costs prior to dry docking.
The surveyor was successfully carried out along side a DNV surveyor during the vessels cleaning/ballast voyage from Killingholme, UK to Gdansk, Poland.
Case : 100,000t Bulk Carrier
UTS were contacted by a ship manager to carry out a survey on a 100,000t Bulk Carrier during its ballast voyage from the UK to Canada and returning on its laden voyage to the UK.
The survey requested was a 20yr ESP special survey, taking into consideration the time scale available, the number of ballast and cargo tanks to inspect and the age of the vessel, UTS were able to supply five (two man) crews to complete the survey effectively within the given time scale.
